Balanced Choices Nutrition Program

Are you looking for a guide to healthy living on campus? Learn more about the Balanced Choices Nutrition Program. Chartwells developed the Balanced Choices nutrition program to provide nutritious products and healthy cooking on campus. The program is directed by a registered dietitian.

“Our Food Philosophy” is our commitment to using the most nutritious products obtainable and the healthiest cooking methods possible in our kitchens. We are proud to say we are 100% Trans-Fat free!

Icon System
The icon system helps you easily identify healthy food choices by looking for the brightly colored graphic icons at dining locations on campus. See the panel to the right for a complete description of icons.

FIT meal has less than 600 calories, 30% or fewer calories from fat, 10% or fewer calories from saturated fat, 80mg or less of cholesterol and 600mg or less sodium. VEGAN menu items contain absolutely no ingredients from animal or dairy products.

Monthly Nutrigram
The monthly Nutrigram features the latest tips and trends on balancing diet, nutrition, exercise, and whole-person wellness. It can be found at the entrance to dining facilities or at Balanced Choice stations at every location.

Monthly Superfoods Celebration
The monthly Superfoods Celebration promotes foods that provide health benefits beyond standard nutrients in a trendy, fun and educational way.

Calling all Vegetarians! NEW T-Veggie program!

Introduced Fall of 2009, T-Veggie offers meat alternatives across campus. Chicken and beef flavored soy based alternatives can be substituted for most meat menu items. Ask the server to make it

T-Veggie style or for the soy based alternative version. See a manager for additional details or questions! Look for this sign and others for participating stations!

Fitness and Wellness Resources
Fitness and Wellness Resources offer a constantly changing variety of brochures on nutrition and wellness topics. Please visit one of out Balanced Choices entrance display boards for brochures.
