Tax Information

In accordance with requirements of the Tax Relief Act of 1997, the 1098-T tax credit form is intended to provide you with information to assist you in determining your eligibility for possible Hope Credits or Lifetime Learning Credits. This tax credit form will be mailed to the permanent address of the student on or before January 31 each year. If you do not receive your 1098-T tax credit forms, please contact the Bursar’s Office at 410-704-2100.

 It is recommended that you contact a tax adviser when determining your qualified amount.

IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Higher Education, and Publication 520, Scholarships and Fellowships, are available from the IRS Web site or by calling 1-800-TAX-FORM.

Tax Benefits for Education

Students can obtain more information about student loan interest deductions, Lifetime Learning Credit and Hope Credits from the IRS.

1098-E and 1098-T Forms

The 1098-E and 1098-T forms are provided for informational purposes and should not be reproduced on personal computer printers by individual taxpayers for filing.

•The 1098-T information for the 2011 tax year is available online. Forms are mailed out to the permanent address of the student.

• Students can obtain their tax information at Towson Online Services. Click on Self Service > Student Center > Account Inquiry. Click on the Account Services tab.
