Benjamin Neil, Associate Professor, was selected to serve on the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners’ Ethics Panel. He will be one of a five member panel enacted to ensure the continuous integrity of the Baltimore City Public Schools.

Joseph Szendi has been named the Chairperson of the Department of Accounting.

Arundhati Rao, Assistant Professor, presented a paper, “Gender Differences in the Job Attribute Preferences of Accounting Majors,” on May 13 at the American Accounting Association Ohio Region Annual Conference in Columbus, OH.

April 2011

Martin Freedman, Professor, delivered a presentation, "Greenhouse gas disclosures: Evidence from the EU response to Kyoto," at the International Conference on Critical Accounting on April 28 in New York.


Martin Freedman, Professor, will have an article, "Corporate Disclosure of Environmental Capital Expenditures: A Test of Alternative Theories," published in an upcoming issue of Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal.


Congratulations to CBE accounting student and Towson Tennis Club President, Ross Friedman, for receiving the USTA Tennis On Campus National Leader of the Year Award! The award honors individual college student leaders for significant contributions made to the USTA Tennis On Campus program on their respective campus.

Arundhati Rao, Assistant Professor, with co-authors Mohamed Warsame and Jan L. Williams, had an article, "Intraday study on the market reaction to distributed denial of service (DOS) attacks on Internet firms," published in the Academy of Accounting and Financial Studies Journal, Vol. 15, No. 2, pp. 59-72.

Donald Rosenberg, Professor, had a paper, "Innocent Spouse Relief: Alternatives After the Lantz Case," published in the Journal of Accountancy, 210(6), 46-53.

Charles Russo, Assistant Professor, and Shohreh Kaynama, Dean and Professor of Marketing, will have an article, “The Impact of Gender and Personality Type on Student Performance in a Business Capstone Course,” published in an upcoming issue of the Academy of Educational Leadership Journal/Allied Academies.

Dr. Arthur L. Wharton III, Assistant Professor, was recently featured in an ad promoting The PhD Project. The PhD Project's mission is to increase the diversity of corporate America by increasing the diversity of business school faculty.
