Accounting Major
The undergraduate accounting major is a 120-unit program. The program provides the necessary transition to specialized master’s programs in accounting. It is also designed for students who wish to prepare for the CPA examination and enter the public accounting profession by completing
the 15-unit Financial Planning Track, an additional 30 units of undergraduate elective courses, or by completing the requirements for a second major or minor. Students who have already earned a Bachelor's degree (regardless of major) should consider earning the necessary credits needed for the CPA exam with the M.S. in Accounting & Business Advisory Services program. Earn the necessary credits while completing a master's degree, fundamental course can be taken simultaneously as a graduate student as long as you have earned a Bachelor’s degree.
Students complete the lower-level core, upper-level business core and upper-level accounting
core courses required of all accounting majors.
All major course requirements must be completed with a grade equivalent of 2.00 or higher. Students must apply for admission to the accounting major.
To assure that students have retained critical information from prior courses, students take a comprehensive examination on business content as part of the capstone course, MNGT 481. The results of this examination serve as 10 percent of the MNGT 481 grade.
