General Overview

  • Towson University provides tutorial support in courses (most frequently requested 100 & 200 level) for undergraduates. These services help many students succeed in the classroom.

  • University faculty are our students’ primary resource to facilitate mastery of the course material. The AAC Support Network serves as a comprehensive secondary learning resource providing a variety of support services advancing and enhancing learning.

  • Peer tutors have earned an A or B+ in relevant coursework and are recommended by TU faculty. Each tutor is eligible for CRLA tutor certification.

  • Tutorial services are provided free-of-charge and depend upon the availability of a qualified tutor. Students are assisted on a first-come, first-served basis and are provided appointment-based (one hour) and group drop-in tutoring per week, per course. Tutors and students are expected to adhere to Towson University's Academic Integrity Policy during all tutoring sessions.

  • To see a list of courses that we have tutored in the past, click here.

Preparing for Tutoring

When you arrive for your tutoring session, please come prepared with your course syllabus, book, and specific questions.  Tutors will assist you with the areas where you have questions, but will not do your work for you.

As you enter the center, type in your Towson ID number into the log in computer.  Choose the reason you are visiting, including the course.  When you leave, type your Towson ID number into the log in computer again, this time selecting the name of the tutor with whom you worked.  If the log in computer is not working, please use the paper sheets available in the binder next to it and notify the coordinator or tutor.
