Jonathan Gaines, Ph.D.

Jonathan S. Gaines was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and received his Ph.D. (Criminal Justice) from Temple University in 2009.  In 2010, Professor Gaines joined the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice at Towson University as an assistant professor.  Today, he teaches CRMJ 201, SOCI/CRMJ 353, and CRMJ 368 and enjoys occasionally serving on a master’s thesis graduate committee (in social science).  His research concentrates on social correlates of psychological distress and depression, and the effects of sex offender registration and community notification on adult sex offenders and their family members, criminal justice practitioners, mental health clinicians, and warned communities.
